Engineered Steel Buildings

Engineered Steel Buildings in Calgary

Engineered building systems for shops, farms, commercial facilities and storage — built with recycled steel and materials as standard.

How it works

An engineered building system is designed as a whole rather than assembled from parts that happen to fit. Frames, connections and cladding are sized together against the loads the building will actually see — including the snow and wind loads of the specific site — which is what keeps the structure efficient instead of simply heavy.

Sustainability is treated as a standard rather than an upgrade. Recycled steel and other recycled materials go into the construction process, and on site, leftover construction materials — extra steel especially — are separated so they can be recovered instead of going to landfill.

The result suits buildings where span, clear height and speed matter: warehouses, shops, agricultural buildings, commercial facilities and mini storage, along with custom structures that do not fit a catalogue.

FAQ

Steel Buildings questions

Do you really use recycled materials?

Yes. Recycled steel and other recycled materials go into the construction process as a standard, not an option. On site, leftover materials — extra steel in particular — are separated so they are recovered rather than sent to landfill.

Does using recycled steel affect the strength of the building?

No. The structure is engineered to the same loads and the same code requirements either way. Recycled content changes where the steel came from, not what it has to carry.

What sizes of building do you handle?

Projects range up to large industrial floorplates — the warehouse currently under construction in Mountain View County is 35,224 square feet. The practical limit is the site and the servicing, not the building system.

What warranty comes with the building?

Steel buildings carry a five-year in-house warranty on the building components. It is a warranty on the building itself — it does not cover damage.

How is the work priced?

Projects are run on either a project-management or a construction-management basis, depending on the job. Which one applies is set out in the proposal, before any work starts.
